Bian Tai Chi

We chose the name Bian because of its significance to the work we do with folks who come to study with us.  Since we do not speak Chinese, we have relied on the translation of others and found that Bian refers to a person changing, becoming better, improving who they are, and becoming more at ease with themselves and with the world around them.

Through the classes we offer, we hope to help folks make the connection between God's healing Holy Spirit and the martial energy that moves in and through all of us; and that they will find a better and healthier way to live and share their understanding and blessings with others.

Learn Tai Chi for Energy with Dr. Paul Lam in September: The new Tai Chi for Energy form will be taught by Dr. Lam at the South Portland Community Center on 29-30 September 2012.  Registration information is available on this web page and on Dr. Lam's web page. We suggest that you register as soon as possible because this workshop will fill quickly; and there are only 30 slots available.

A Tai Chi for Diabetes workshop has been scheduled for July:  The Tai Chi for Diabetes workshop will be held in Bangor on 14-15 July 2012.  Taught by Master Trainers Marty Kidder and Pay Lawson, this workshop may provide CEUs for nurses, OTs, and PTs.  For information and registration check the links to the left.

Regular classes end for the summer in Bangor:  Tai Chi for Health classes at the Bangor Y and the Hammond Street Senior Center will end for the summer the last week of May.  Classes will begin again after Labor Day.  For information on fall classes at the Y, call 207-941-2808.  For information on fall classes at the Senior Center, call Mindy at 207-262-5532. 

Programs in the surrounding area will also end for the summer. Tai Chi for Health classes at the Elm Street Congregational Church in Bucksport, and at the Adult education programs in Hampden and Orono will end in mid-May.  Classes at all three venues will begin in September.
